Cheri, the Bose speakers are for the Q! (They are computer speakers, but instead of hooking them to a computer, I hook them to the Q, so all the songs on WMP play through the speakers).

When they are turned up all the way, you can hear them on all the floors of my house (main/upstairs/basement). Definately loud enough to have my 15 year old scream "TURN DOWN THE DAMN MUSIC!!!

I don't use earphones , because I'm either home, driving or working. I have tried Bari's I-pod ear buds (with the 2.5 - 3.5 adapter thingy), and they work fine, so in the summer, when we are on the boat or at the beach, I can have "my" own personal music player too! (Hubby & both girls have I-pods, son has game boy - no desire for music!)
