Anybody know of any good, preferably free video capture software? I have an old (6 years) Sony hi8 camcorder and a USB capture device, but the Ulead software that came with it sucks. It won't let me set it to mono (as opposed to stereo) and the composite cable for the camcorder is of the two plug variety. This results in horrible sound quality. I have VLC media player that works with the device, but it is not novice friendly. I'm muddling through it, but am getting very frustrated. I have gone to the VLC website, but as I don't understand DOS the answers don't make a bit of sense. Any help would be great. I just need to get six years of tape onto DVD so I can upgrade and be done with it.
