If you are simply doing sync with your laptop/desktop, then yeah everything will sync and whatever you have on the host will be viewable in your device without any charge. The extent to which you see the message is dependent on how much you told it to transfer and the attachment is dependent on the space you have and format being supported.

I have done this myself because I don't have a data service for a long time now and it works just fine and I love it. I get to have all my mail with me even when I don't have my laptop. If I write a message away from the computer, it holds it in the outbox and then when I sync, it will send it through the machine and sync the new ones with it.

Alot of things are possible but depends on what you need. If you need more information, give specifics and we can guide you through it.
