It could be that your motherboard can't handle the "surge" that it takes to connect the phone too.
Lot's of reasons for it to happen I guess.
Most likely it is a driver issue and you should delete the drivers in the list of hardware devices and then unplug the phone reboot the computer and then when the computer is completely up and loaded plug the phone into the computer and let windows automatically reinstall the drivers. That should correct the problem.
