I didn't mess with any hacks for the first 6 months. I had plenty to do trying out 3rd party apps as I found them and could afford them.

I had the Q for a year and the Q9c for two months not and only use two speed hacks;

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\STORAGEMANAGER\FATFS
change cachesize to 4096
---------------------------------------------------------------
internet speed hack
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Internet Settings\

change the key MaxConnectionsPerServer from 4 to 50

Take your time and read a lot before deciding what to mess with.
