I know about the contract stuff. We've had cell phone service for years. I have purchased phones via other means so as not extend another contract. IMO i wouldnt pay $400, unless it rubbed my feet, or made me breakfast lol. When I do sell, i do check ebay but also other sources.
So since im clueless on how to get a rep to unlock a phone. Whats the secret? Ive sold a few phones with sim card capabilities. I but havent had to deal with that in years. Maybe my understanding of unlocking a phone is different. Just thinks its unusual u can call and reps will just do it....so many ads I see for people who get paid to unlock phones.

sorry I miss-read your post.
What you need to do about the unlock thing is call your carrier and explain that you are leaving the country and want to be able to use a local sim card to avoid roaming charges. Most companies do this (T-Mo allows a certain amount within a month if you have been with them for at least 90 days). Att CS said that she would put the request in and I would get an email with the code if it was approved...and that it would probably take at least 24 hrs.
In about 20 minutes I received the email with the code...
