Default Roaming Data on Verizon

Hey guys:

I have Sprint's SERO 500 plan, which includes unlimited data. I go to college in NY, where I don't worry at all about Sprint coverage, but I live in Maine, where Sprint has extremely limited coverage. Testing it there, I roamed most of the time on Verizon, which is fine since there are no roaming charges with SERO, but am safe from data roaming? Also, Verizon teams with US Cellular to offer a larger, "extended network." If Verizon data roaming is free, will I be charged for this? And if there are charges, is there a way to turn data access off from the phone, so I won't get dinged?

Thanks,

Vaz
