I'm not familiar with the Q or Q9M, so I'm not sure if this will apply or not. It seems the Q9H is limited to 600kb for ringtones, but ATT goes a little further and sets the limit at 299kb. I was told the carriers can set their own individual limitations and thus it may vary from carrier to carrier. Anyway here are the instructions I received:

Go into HKEY_CurrentUser --> ControlPanel --> Sounds --> FileSizeLimit ( it's a DWORD value) Delete it. Easy as that and now you can enjoy your MP3's without the size limitation.

Now, I thought I was supposed to delete just the DWORD value, but I couldn't get it to take (I deleted the DWORD value but went back to check and the same value was back), so I (nervously) deleted the entire FileSizeLimit. No problems with mine - I loaded up some large MP3's and they show/play.

Again, this was information that was passed on to me so I don't take the credit for it, but thought I'd pass it on and share the wealth. Please use at your own risk!
Thank you so much for the information. However, I had read in another posting that the AT&T Motorola Q Global or Q9h only lets you use WAV ringtones. Do you mean I can have MP3 ringtones?

I've tried it both ways and only the WAV or WMA files seem to be recognized for system sounds and ringtones.

I have NOT yet done the registry hack so doing so may solve the problem but I am curious since (at least to me) there seems to be two schools of thought about getting custom sounds/ringtones on the Q9h.

I admit to being in the dark about this since my previous WinMo 6 phone (T-Mobile Dash) pretty much took any and every MP3/Wav file I threw at it.

Please forgive me if I am asking a dumb question.
