I do have the same problem... The computer sees the phone, but not my ActSync software. I'm quite sure the problem comes from my firewall (everthing was fine before I installed AVG internet security suite), but I don't manage to configure it correctly. All connections needed by ActSync are permitted on AVG firewall, but it doesn't seem to help!
Anyway, I suggest you check your firewall settings (and I hope for you they aren't has complicated as mine!!)...
On the other hand, if anyone can give me a tip with AVG, I would be thankful...
