It's easy enough to use the calendar/task functions. You might find the stock tasks app to be lacking, but third party apps like
PowerTasks (see
review) resolve this.
I definitely recommend the extended battery. VZW heavily discounted the extended battery from the launch of the Q. Not sure what it's running now, but expect to add $20 or so to your cost.
The standard homescreen displays your next appt. Selecting this will show your full day. There are numberous customizations you can do on the homescreen, which is one of the great things about the Q. I haven't used it yet, but
Facade is a popular program for this purpose.
Yes, there are several options for setting up repeating appts and alarms for reminders. Very similar to what you'd find on the Palm.
