Yes, I tried it when trying out TomTom....
TomTom would announce through the Headset, and when on a call, TomTom would show a Speaker Icon with an "X" through it to let you know that it is not announcing directions... as soon as the call is disconnected, the Icon went away and it resumed announcing driving directions.
